A quick tie for those small mayflies

Materials
Hook- Daiichi ultimate dry fly hook
Thread- Olive dun
Tail- Dun hackle fibers
Abdomen- Tying thread
Thorax- Light olive super fine
Hackle- Dun

  1. I've only learned of your site recently but noticed that you prefer to clip the barbules of the bottom of a hackle before winding it. Do you do that so the remaining short stubs of the barbules help to anchor the stem when applying the thread wraps? Or it's just the way you like to tie.

    Do you have, or are you planning to have, a tutorial on tying a hackle stacker dry fly?
