Pa wild freestone stream

Got out yesterday for the afternoon. It was rainy and a bit chilly. The stream was very high but running rather clear. I figured I would hit the lower portion of the stream. Some areas where unfishable do to the water level and wading was a bit challenging in some spots.

I approached a nice long pool that has a bug factory above it. This pool always gives up trout. I cast the golden oldie and the peeking caddis up into the lower end of the pool. A rather large brook trout took the oldie.  I worked the mid section of the pool and no bites. I put a cast up into the head and got a nice little wild brown on the peeking caddis.

I fished the rest of the lower section and got several more browns and a bow. The bow was extremely feisty and was one of the most beautiful ones I have ever caught on this stream.  Unfortunately the bow was to feisty for a picture.   All in all it was a good afternoon of flying.  The Golden oldie won by one fish. The trout were very interested in the peeking caddis. With rain picking up and hunger kicking in. I retired back to my car.
